Monthly Meeting Minutes – 02/13/2024

18:57 – Meeting called to order.

Discussion of last meeting and reading of minutes:

  • Election of Officers: Not enough Members present to hold election.
  • Dinner scheduled for January 21st, 2024.
  • CERT Training: scheduled for January 26th and 27th and February 2nd and 3rd, 2024.
  • Buffalo Hump Repeater. – MARA Net. – Ghost Towns on the air.

Meeting minutes approved by unanimous vote of all members present.


Old Business:

  • CERT Training: Went well. Ron, Zach, Matt, John A., and Isaac attended full class and obtained certification.
  • Dinner was canceled due to poor weather. Rescheduled for February 16th, 2024.

New Business:

  • Treasurer report: Current bank account balance, $3,687.39.
  • John A. showed an end-fed antenna.
  • Discussed details for Dinner on February 16th, 2024.
  • Ron discussed GMRS Emergency-Communications (ECOMM) for citizens of Sweetwater County. Ron presented an article from QRZ, discussing a community in CA that established an ECOMM system for citizens without Amateur Radio licenses. Club further discussed GMRS repeaters and possible location for a location to bridge GMRS communications from Rock Springs to Green River. Ron would like to present this to Sweetwater Emergency management. John A. suggested tabling this until club had a chance to discuss further. Members present agreed to table discussion until March Meeting. Ron will also check with Steve if he still has a GMRS repeater.

Election of Officers:

  • President; Nominations: Zach and Ron. Zach won majority vote.
  • Vice President; Nominations: Bob, Matt, and Isaac. Matt won majority vote.
  • Secretary; Nominations: Isaac. Isaac won unanimous vote.
  • Treasurer; Nominations: Louis. Louis won unanimous vote.
  • Matt announces a Basic Wire Repair Class on March 9th, 2024.
  • Doris obtained a new radio and needs help with antenna set up.
  • Phil also has a new radio that he needs help with set up.

19:45 – Meeting was adjourned.
