Emergency Management Evacuation Exercise

There a fire at the Preserve Apartment Complex located near the Deer Trail Assisted living facility in Rock Springs, WY. Sweetwater County Emergency Management – CERT has requested assistance from the Amateur Radio Group to help facilitate the transport of residents from the Assisted Living Center to the Events Complex where a temporary shelter is to be rectified.

With this Scenario, Sweetwater County CERT has provided the following items that are known to this specific scenario:

  • There are going to be 58 total individuals will be arriving, three of them are Staff from Deer Trail.
  • All but the staff are elderly.
  • There will be one wheelchair, 15 walkers, six canes, and seven residents with oxygen.
  • Some are from the Memory Care unit, they may have dementia and or Alzheimer’s.
  • There will be a CNA on the first bus.
  • There will be a total of five buses.
  • The final bus will have the Deer Trail nurse and medical cart
  • There will be four dogs and two cats all in individual carriers
  • Each bus will have a list of passengers that are on that particular bus. The list is to be given to the Shelter Manager for check-in.

    • 11 Residents
    • 1 CNA
    • 1 dog
    • 1 cat
    • 2 residents have walkers.
    • 2 residents have canes.
  • Request notice when bus departs. Request Readback.

  • Zach (KE7WYG), read back the following:
    • Bus departed Dear Trail at 7:12 pm
    • 11 Residents
    • 1 CNA
    • 1 dog
    • 1 cat
    • 2 residents have walkers.
    • 2 residents have canes.
  • Requested confirmation of read back

  • Ron (N7ERH), Read back was 100%.  Report to Shelter Manager, request when bus departs shelter for Deer Trail.
